A warning has been issued that delays are to be expected in the areas of Watford and Bushey due to temporary traffic lights.

The multi-way lights have been introduced in Chalk Hill and Aldenham Road near Bushey Arches and are expected to last until July 14.

Hertfordshire County Council Highways team tweeted: “DELAYS: A411 Chalk Hill #Watford - DELAYS in the area due to Roadworks.”

UK Power Networks is carrying out the works to introduce a “new service connection”.

It seems the temporary lights are causing disruptions already after being installed yesterday (July 10).

One person said on social media: “There’s a small lane closure as you go up chalk hill and turn left at Aldenham road.

“For that they have 3-way traffic lights impacting all the traffic around Bushey Arches. Traffic was backed up from there past Tesco.”

Another person questioned how temporary traffic lights have been “allowed again on the roads causing more chaos”.

In February, temporary traffic lights were installed in the same location despite not having permission and work did not even go ahead.

It caused “traffic mayhem” with Watford and Bushey residents caught up in severe delays.

Affinity Water, the organisation responsible for the lights, apologised for the “inconvenience” and removed the lights.

The current works have permission.
