A prime spot bar in Watford had its closure confirmed yesterday - but it may not be shut for good.

Watford BID, which works with town centre businesses, said the Nightcap-owned bar had shut last month despite only opening nine months ago.

However, Nightcap executive Sarah Willingham has kept the door ajar for a potential new offering at the site.

She told the Watford Observer: "Watford Barrio is currently closed for the summer.

“In the past nine months we have gained a greater understanding of the vibe of the town and are now taking some time to evolve our offer to serve the needs of local customers.

“We look forward to updating everyone on what's next for the location."

When the Watford Observer asked for clarification if Barrio could reopen, or if the company is looking to run something else in the spot, it would not comment any further.

The Latin-inspired bar replaced former favourite Bosleys at one of the area's prime nightlife spots, with Watford’s deputy mayor Aga Dychton cutting the ribbon in October.

Barrio has five other venues in central London, and the Watford branch was the first location outside the capital.
