Watford locals have had quite a few chances to spot celebrities in the town so far in 2023.

The town sees more than its share of famous faces, particularly with how much filming goes on at Leavesden Studios, and locals have managed to some big names.

Across Watford, Kings Langley, Rickmansworth, and Bushey these are some of the biggest names to visit the area this year so far.

The Merchant of Venice 1936

A red-carpet event at Watford Palace Theatre, in Clarendon Road, on the night of March 2 featured so many celebrity sightings they have had to be rolled into one.

The Merchant of Venice 1936, starring EastEnders star Tracy-Ann Oberman, was attended by famous faces including Rachel Riley, David Morrissey, David Aaronovitch, David Baddiel, Amanda Holden, Judge Rinder, Lisa Faulkner, Gary Kemp, and an array of Oberman's fellow EastEnders stars.

Hugh Bonneville/Sarah Parish

W1A stars Sarah Parish and Hugh Bonneville were spotted despite The Swan in Park Road being covered in large black sheets while filming took place at the pub on July 10.

The pair have teased an upcoming project they are both involved in but, as yet, it isn’t known exactly what.

Anne Hegerty

There was some drama after a fan met Anne Hegerty at The Dome roundabout’s Sainsbury’s.

The The Chase chaser was apparently “approachable and really warm” but responding to the Watford Observer's story, Anne tweeted: “I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but while it was delightful to meet Chloe last night, she should now do an LFT (lateral flow test), as this morning I tested positive for Covid.”

Fortunately, it all ended ok as the fan tested negative.

Ross Kemp

Ross Kemp raised a glass to volunteers at The Feathers in Church Street, Rickmansworth, at a Cheers for Volunteers on behalf of the Royal Voluntary Service in June.

Cheers for Volunteers is a celebration of all the hard work volunteers do to help the community and the even featured on a Thank You Day celebration on ITV's Lorraine.

The Watford boxer has been busy lately but still found time to drop by Clean Herts Community’s Easter and Eid Party in The Park on April 22.

Clean Herts was launched by Joshua to help members in Watford and Hertfordshire in as many ways as possible.

One half of Robson and Jerome was filming scenes for Grantchester at The Old Palace, in Langley Hill, Kings Langley at the start of this month.

The pub became 'The Hope and Anchor' for the period crime thriller.

Will Mellor

The star of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star didn’t see the best of Watford as he waded knee deep in water through Watford Junction when the town was hit with heavy downpours on June 12.
