Businesses have reacted to a consultation that is expected to address parking woes.

Documents have been released proposing to amend parking in certain roads in Croxley Green.

The council has suggested that double yellow lines could be introduced in Dorrofield Close and pay and display parking places could be established in Frankland Road, Hazelwood Road and Winton Drive.

Double yellow lines could also be extended in Hazelwood Road, and Watford Road and Winton Drive could have limited waiting parking places.

In addition, permit parking bays could be removed in Watford Road and replaced with single yellow and double yellow lines.

Three businesses on Watford Road told the Watford Observer they welcomed the consultation.

However, Linda Anderson who owns The Kitchen Croxley does not think it has gone far enough.

She said: “The consultation does not address there being no parking between 12pm and 1pm, which is a time when people want to come in for lunch.”

Chartwell Dental’s practice manager Sian Knibb echoed Ms Anderson’s concerns.

Ms Knibb added that she thinks signs need to be clearer explaining to people where parking is and isn’t allowed.

She said: “We treat patients from all over Hertfordshire who are not familiar with the roads. It isn’t clear where parking zones begin and end.”

For the REGD Opticians, its spokesperson said she is disappointed that cars can no longer use the Green King car park as they once could.

She said: “Not many people used the Green King car park. I cannot understand why it has come to this.”

A Three Rivers District Council spokesperson said: “These proposals seek to address these concerns and would offer alternative locations for parking during 12-1pm but outside the Controlled Parking Zone.”

They added the proposed charges would be, up to one hour free, two hours: £1, three hours: £2.50 and four hours: £4.

A spokesperson for the Red House pub said its 30-minute parking rule “aims to strike the right balance to support the local community and also retain parking spaces for our customers”.

Documents providing the full details of the proposals are available to view online here. The consultation closes on September 8.
