An opportunistic thief targeted numerous vehicles in a Watford road overnight before three were broken into.

Residents voiced safety fears online after the thefts in Farriers Way between Saturday evening and Sunday morning (September 24).

One involved a grey Ford Europe being broken into and ransacked, with a bank card reportedly stolen, between 1am and 5am on the Sunday.

Watford Observer:

Herts Police were separately told that another Ford Europe, this one white, was also targeted at 3.15am, with "some items reported stolen".

A third report was also made of another car being broken into between 8pm and 9am the following day, though it is unclear if anything was taken.

Footage of a man trying car doors that evening was shared on social media. He was wearing a long black coat and jeans.

One Farriers Way resident wrote: “This situation does make me feel unsafe a little bit due to it being the most quiet and untroubled estate, everyone on the estate is friendly.

“After this incident I feel like I need to get more security for my car, even though he didn’t get in.”

Another added: “Make sure all doors are locked on cars and nothing is in view, don't give these chancers open opportunity.”

Information can be reported to police via their website or non-emergency number 101.
