A series of power cuts have plagued parts of Watford this afternoon.

UK Power Networks (UKPN) has said the unplanned power cut “has occurred on a piece of our electrical equipment which controls the power to your home”.

The provider said it has received 188 calls about power cuts affecting 56 postcodes.

Some people living in and around the areas of the Meriden, Garston and Cassiobury Park, have been impacted, according to UKPN.

The provider said they were first alerted to the power cut just after 3pm.

For those living in and near Mill End, Rickmansworth, the power is not expected to resume until 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
