Yorke Mead Primary School has been told its next inspection could be graded “outstanding” after the most recent visit from Ofsted.

The Croxley Green school had an “ungraded inspection” on September 13 and 14 in which it was confirmed that “the evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might be outstanding if a graded (section 5) inspection were carried out now”.

According to the report published this month, the staff are “ambitious” and pupils are “happy and polite”.

Watford Observer:

The school had its last full inspection in 2018 where it was graded as “good”.

Headteacher, Lucille Pollard, said: “We are delighted that this report has recognised that Yorke Mead is a wonderful school with our children at its heart.

"The report is a testament to the positive work that we do. This is the result of the hard work of everyone connected to our school community – children, staff, parents and governors."

Watford Observer:

Pupils have “positive attitudes to learning” as they follow “routines and expectations”, and staff have “warm relationships” with all students at the school.

The school, which has 428 students, ensures that students' needs are “well understood” and learn how to “respectfully challenge and ask questions”, as they speak with “passion” about the importance of having an opinion.

It is an “inclusive” environment and staff “carefully” plan students’ wider development, including extracurricular activities which are “well-attended".

Watford Observer:

This ensures children learn how to play a musical instrument and learn about physical and emotional well-being, healthy relationships, and citizenship.

Staff were described as “proud” to work for the school and are "well supported” with their well-being and professional development.

The headteacher added: "Everyone at Yorke Mead has the same important focus, which is our children, and helping each of them to grow into happy, healthy and well-educated individuals.”

The school has “successfully developed” pupils’ “love” of reading and staff are “highly skilled” in teaching early language.

Pupils were described to be “determined, resilient and ambitious” when they are learning and have learnt the school’s three key rules which are “being safe, responsible and respectful”.

The school is located on Dulwich Way, Croxley Green and offers spaces for both boys and girls aged three to 11.
