After a van was left parked across a pavement for three hours, the company involved has revealed the keys were accidentally locked inside.

Reactions from Kings Langley residents ranged from angry to baffled when an OCU Group van parked on the High Street pavement on Thursday night (October 19).

One person compared the pavement-blocking parking to a bank robbers, while some genuinely wondered if it had been stolen and dumped.

After an OCU spokesperson spoke to the driver, they were able to reveal the real reason.

“The van was parked on the pavement to unload heavy materials,” the spokesperson said.

“The driver closed the rear doors of the van but inadvertently left the keys in the van. All of our vans have slam locks fitted and two keys are required to unlock the van.

“A call was made to our transport team who arranged for a replacement set of keys to be delivered to the location, this took three hours.

“We have also spoken to the driver about his parking and instructed him not to block or park on pavements.”
