Scaffolding has gone up outside Cassiobury House in Watford ahead of a planned refurbishment.

The former driving test centre and Watford County and Family Court premises currently has white tarpaulin and metal infrastructure around the building.

Plans to turn the Station Road site into refurbished offices were granted by Watford Borough Council after being submitted in September last year.

The site was originally earmarked to be a Premier Inn hotel and office space before that was scrapped in 2021 amid a petition opposing the plan.

Work on the latest scheme was originally planned to start in June this year, but last week the scaffolding went up and building work began. Developers are aiming to complete it next year.

Tellon Capital is planning to improve and reconfigure the inside and increase the interior space to nearly 39,000 square feet.
