A woman has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a 25-year-old was seriously injured in a crash.

Herts Police were called to The Avenue, Bushey, at 4.32am today (January 17) when it was reported that a grey Volkswagen T-Roc had hit a pedestrian in the road.

Update: Herts Police have shared an update adding that "the same man was then involved in a collision involving a lorry".

The force has confirmed that a 25-year-old man from Poole has sustained serious injuries, which are not life-threatening, and a 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without due care or attention.

The road was closed once Herts Police and the East of England Ambulance Service arrived. It remains shut as of 11.50am.

According to Hertfordshire Highways, police at the scene have been “carrying out investigations”.

The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance was also called to the road, but the man was taken to St Mary's Hospital by road ambulance.
