A Watford stop has been permanently taken off a bus route after it forced services to block traffic.

The 322 from Hemel Hempstead to Maple Cross, via Watford and Rickmansworth, will no longer stop at the ‘Watford, West Street’ bus stop in St Albans Road.

The move was confirmed by Intalink, which organises transport on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, this afternoon (February 13). It said the decision was down to the layout of the road.

The announcement said: “Service 322 is unable to serve this stop going into the junction due to having to potentially block lanes of traffic when trying to turn right after leaving the stop and turning into Station Road.

“Timetables at the roadside and on the website will be adjusted as soon as possible to reflect this change.”

After leaving the stop, outside the White Lion pub and heading north it would then have just metres to move from the left lane, through the middle lane, and into the right-hand lane before it splits off for right turns.

The two nearest stops for passengers to get on or off at instead are in The Avenue (opposite the library and town hall) and at Watford Junction.
