It is set to remain an offence to enter a closed down flat following a “dramatic decrease in anti-social behaviour”.

Yesterday (March 13), Herts Police were successful in their application to extend the closure order for the Abbey View property, in the Meriden Estate, for three months.

Confirming that the court had made the decision, police said: “Residents have been given another three months respite from previous drug activity and anti-social behaviour at the location.

“Any person found entering is liable to arrest.”

On December 12, 2023, an Abbey View raid saw the force seize more than 50 heroin wraps, cannabis, and £1,300 in cash.

Three Watford men – aged 19, 21, and 22 – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply both class A (heroin) and class B (cannabis) drugs.

There have been no further arrests and no charges have been made since the closure order was put in place on December 14.

Today, Inspector Dan Jones said: "There has been a dramatic decrease in anti-social behaviour since the closure order was put in place at Abbey View.

“We will continue to work with residents to support them and we have successfully had an extension granted on the closure order by the courts."
