These nine Watford drivers have been found guilty of breaking the speed limit in 2024, with some topping 100mph.

Reaching extreme speeds on motorways can land motorists with big fines and points on their licence and that is just what happened in the cases below.

These are the speeds that landed residents in court this year:

Saquib Butt

Saquib Butt, of Wiggenhall Road, hit a 119mph speed in a BMW on the M1.

The 28-year-old also admitted to driving without due care and attention by going from lane three to lane one, undertaking a vehicle at between 90mph and 100mph, and then returning to lane three.

He was ordered to pay a £800 in total and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on January 3.

Sam Thomas Bolt

Sam Thomas Bolt, 33, of Vicarage Road, hit 97mph on the M1 in a BMW on April 10, 2023, and was therefore ordered to pay £222.

His driving record was endorsed with four points at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on January 25.

Sarfraz Ali Kunwar

Sarfraz Ali Kunwar, of Princes Avenue, was ordered to pay £1,079 after admitting to driving a BMW at 101mph on the M1 on June 17 last year.

Willesden Magistrates’ Court handed out the fine on February 1 and the 29-year-old was also given six points on his licence.

Karandeep Singh

Karandeep Singh, 35, was handed his fine by Bromley Magistrates’ Court on February 1 and he was ordered to pay £576 and given six points.

Singh, of Westlea Avenue, had driven a Land Rover at 100mph on the M1 on June 28.

Ryan Wiltshire

Ryan Wiltshire, of Whippendell Road, was ordered to pay £755 and had his record endorsed with six points after being found guilty at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on February 1.

Manned equipment recorded the 49-year-old’s BMW travelling at 97mph on the M1 on July 5 last year.

Ashley Thomas

Ashel Thomas, 38, drove a Land Rover at 103mph on the M1 on July 13, last year.

Bromley Magistrates’ Court ordered Thomas, of Alexandra Road, to pay £1,510 on February 9. He was given six points on his licence.

Qasim Sohail

Qasim Sohail, 32, of St Albans Road, drove at 97mph in an Audi on the M1 on July 13, last year, and was ordered to pay £716 by Willesden Magistrates’ Court on February 12.

David Alex Alberto Mihai

David Alex Alberto Mihai, 24, was ordered to pay £1,370. He admitted to driving a BMW on the M23 without third party insurance and speeding on the M23, on July 3, 2023, at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on March 5.

His driving record was endorsed.

Joao Moniz Jeronimo Araujo

Joao Moniz Jeronimo Araujo, on Meriden Way, drove at 99mph on the M1 in a Volkswagen Passat on August 20, 2023.

At Willesden Magistrates’ Court on March 8, the 31-year-old was ordered to pay £716 and had his driving licence was endorsed with 5 points.
