A planning application for permission to replace a green belt house with four-bedroom homes has been rejected.
This morning (March 18) Watford Borough Council published its decision to refuse planning permission for two new homes at the Hempstead Road site, currently occupied by one existing three-bedroom home.
It decided that the proposed development is considered "inappropriate" within the green belt and added that there are “no very special circumstances to justify otherwise”.

- Plan to turn vacant store into chicken shop rejected by council
The site was set back from the street along an access road which also goes towards Affinity Water’s The Grove facility and a pair of semi-detached houses opposite.
The two new four-bedroom properties would have been semi-detached. The applicant claimed that the development would mirror the neighbouring building and therefore “provide a more balanced appearance when viewing the group of houses from Hempstead Road".
The plan was submitted on January 16 and no public comments were made while it was pending consideration.
