Magistrates handed out several hefty fines to Watford offenders last month.

The people in the list below have come away having to pay sums in excess of £1,000 after appearances in magistrates’ courts across the country.

Offences range from failing to give information to police, speeding, and assault.

The total balance to pay tends to be made up of a combination of fines, victim services surcharges, and costs - with the fine being the largest component in each case.

Marin Vlad

Marin Vlad, of Vicarage Road, assaulted a woman in Watford High Street on November 21, 2021.

He denied the offence during a St Albans Magistrates' Court appearance in 2022 but was found guilty on March 9, 2023.

The 49-year-old was sentenced on March 7, this year. The same court’s magistrates ordered him to pay a £2,305 total for assault and failing to surrender to court bail.

Joseph Samuel Hill

After speeding at 101mph in a Honda on the M1 near Redbourn on June 13, 2023, Joseph Samuel Hill, 34, was ordered to pay a £1,510 total at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on March 21.

David Alex Alberto Mihai

David Alex Alberto Mihai, of Whippendell Road, appeared in Crawley Magistrates’ Court on March 5 and was ordered to pay £1,370.

The 24-year-old had used a BMW without insurance on the M23 on July 3, 2023. He also admitted driving the car at more than 70mph on the motorway.

Ilawi Messiah Forde-Mills

Ilawi Messiah Forde-Mills, of Water Lane, failed to give information relating to the identify of a vehicle’s driver in Bradford when required to by police, on July 21, last year.

On March 6, 2024, Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court ordered the 30-year-old to pay £1,034.

Shaquanne Lindsay

23-year-old Shaquanne Lindsay had failed to give information relating to the driver of a vehicle to police in Bristol when required to on August 29, 2023.

Bath Law Courts ordered Lindsay, of Balmoral Road, to pay a £1,034 balance.

Hector Mazala Morais Pereira

After driving a vehicle without third party insurance on February 7, 2023, Hector Mazala Morais Pereira, 36, of Courtlands Close, was ordered to pay £1,034 by Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on March 27.
