Two people had been to be freed from a car after it smashed into a lamppost on a major road.

Emergency services were called at 11.42am yesterday, April 7, to reports of a crash on the A41/North Western Avenue, near Bushey.

Herts Police rushed to the scene and found a silver Lexus had struck a lamppost.

The ambulance service and two fire engines also attended, who worked to free the pair who were stuck in the vehicle.

The incident forced the road to close for around two hours until 2.10pm while drivers were advised to avoid the area.

One of the pair, a woman, suffered minor hand injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution, Herts Police said.
