Watford Junction trains are set to face “major disruption” for hours after a fault threw Euston lines into disarray.

National Rail has confirmed that a fault with the signalling system at London Euston has blocked some of the lines into the station, cancelling some services and causing up to an hour of delays for those that can still run.

The issue was initially announced just after 12pm, when it was hoped it would be cleared quickly, but by 1pm operators had warned the “major disruption” is likely to last until 4pm.

Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway, and London Overground trains are affected.

Update:

According to live departure boards for Watford Junction, six services set to depart the station between 1pm and 2pm have been cancelled. Four more are already marked as running late.

London Overground services may be revised to start and terminate at Kilburn High Road instead of Euston.

Ticket acceptance and rail replacement bus arrangements are in place.
