A secondary school has appointed the deputy head from a nearby school as its new headteacher.

Andy Harris, who from September will be taking over at Croxley Danes School, in Baldwins Lane, Croxley Green, said he is “delighted” to have been given the opportunity.

The father-of-two lives in Buckinghamshire and has working been at St Clement Danes in Chorleywood for five years, first as assistant headteacher and then deputy headteacher from 2021.

“I am very much looking forward to serving such a vibrant community and achieving the best possible outcomes for our learners together.”

Before joining St Clement Danes, he was assistant headteacher at Lealands High School in Luton after working at Whitmore High School and Hatch End High School in Harrow.

He had also worked for the Ministry and Defence and Northern Ireland Office before training to become a teacher.

His interests include outdoor pursuits such as wild camping and motorcycling.

Danes Educational Trust said that the incoming head demonstrated “a real commitment to working with the whole school community in creating a culture of high aspiration”, during the interview process.
