Parking permit charges to rise across Watford CPZs

The borough council has given notice that controlled parking zone (CPZ) charges will increase from June 2.

Up to two permits can be purchased per household, with a maximum of one per person and a greater charge for second permits.

Watford's controlled parking zones. (Image: Watford Borough Council/web) The cost of a household's first full-time residents' permit will increase from £31 to £34, while a second permit will increase from £66 to £73 – or £31 to £34 for a motorcycle.

A full-time business permit will rise from £325 for an inner zone and £165 for an outer zone to £350 and £175 respectively.

The first five full-time doctor and health visitor permits for a practice or unit will increase from £31 to £34 and additional permits will go from £66 to £73.

Councillor Ian Stotesbury, who is responsible for transport and sustainability, said “Our priority has always been to keep charges as low as possible for our residents.

“Rising contractor costs have made a small increase necessary to ensure we can continue to provide this service.

“We work hard to keep any increase to an absolute minimum.

“When compared with other councils across Hertfordshire and neighbouring areas, our parking permit charges remain among the lowest.”

Residents can renew their permit online up to 21 days before it expires.
