Watford CPZ permit charges to rise and planned road closures

The cost of a resident’s permit in a controlled parking zone in Watford is set to increase by nine per cent from the start of next month.

Watford Borough Council has published details of the proposed rise in the Public Notice Portal.

This is used to access upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and applications.

Details of the latest planned road closures in the Watford area have also been published in the portal, including one of the town’s busiest routes.

All temporary closure orders and other restrictions are valid for up to 18 months from the date they come into force, but restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.

Here are five notices we've rounded up which could affect residents in the Watford are:

CPZ permits, Watford

The cost of residents permits in controlled parking zones in Watford is set to increase from June 2.

The first full-time permit is due to go up by nine per cent from £31 to £34, while there is a proposed £7 increase from £66 to £73 for a second full-time permit.

The cost for a motorcycle permit will rise to £34 from £31.

Business users are facing a hike from £325 to a new price of £350 for a permit in an inner parking zone, while in an outer zone it is set to rise from £165 to £175.

Radlett Road, Watford – temporary closure

Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prohibit all vehicles from using Radlett Road, Watford, from its junction with Ebury Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m to allow bridge inspection works to be carried out.

The order is due to come into force today (Sunday).

Whippendell Road and Cassiobury Park Avenue, Watford – temporary closure

The county council is intending to make an order to temporarily shut these lengths of roads:

- Whippendell Road from Hagden Lane to Harwoods Road, a distance of approximately 564m.

- Cassiobury Park Avenue from A412 Rickmansworth Road westwards, a distance of approximately 50m.

The order, if made will come into force on May 24 and is needed for works to take place.

Tudor Avenue, Watford – temporary closure

An order is set to be made to prevent vehicles from using Tudor Avenue from its junction with Tudor Walk to its junction with Colne Way, except for access, so utility service works can be carried out.

The order, if made, will come into force on May 25.

Estate of Elaine Katherine Dempsey

Anyone with a claim against, or an interest in, the estate of Elaine Katherine Dempsey (otherwise Elaine Katherine Fisher), late of 37 Neston Road, Watford, WD24 7BN, who died on December 24, 2024, should send their written particulars to Veale Wasbrough Vizards LLP, 45 Clarendon Road, Watford, WD17 1SZ.

This should be done on or before July 10, 2025.
