A flat fire that devastated the property has triggered a warning from firefighters.
The first-floor blaze in Tylersfield, Abbots Langley, was spotted by a passer-by who called Herts Fire and Rescue at 11.10am yesterday (December 21).
Three engines were sent from the Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Garston stations, with crews finding smoke billowing out of the window.
They used breathing apparatus to enter and everyone was accounted for, with no injuries reported.
The fire was out by 11.33am, although damping down continued afterwards while firefighters checked on neighbours.
Assistant chief fire officer Darren Cook said: “Thankfully, everyone was safely accounted for and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

“We encourage everyone to make sure they have a working smoke alarm, as this will give you and your family the early warning you need to be able to get out safely in the event of a fire.”
Residents can contact their local fire station to have a smoke alarm fitted free of charge.
The fire is believed to have been accidental.
