Café customers were left amazed after a generous regular put £200 down to pay for others’ drinks.
Simba Bru Coffee in Sutton Road prides itself on creating a community and says this was taken to a new level by a random act of kindness on Saturday morning (January 17).
The longtime regular, who was apparently the first to leave the café a Google Review, did not even buy anything when he dropped in, said he was having a good day, and left the money to cover coffees for anyone who walks in after him.
Abbas Parpia, who founded Simba Bru in 2022, said: “People were thinking it is a joke so they were still waiting to pay.
“We had to say ‘no, no we’re being serious’, they were quite surprised and very happy.”
The initial £200 brought plenty of smiles during the busy Saturday morning, but then several customers – including some visiting for the first time – decided to get involved and continue the chain by contributing themselves.
This was enough to keep the free drinks going for around another half hour.

Abbas said: “I’ve always believed that while many independent coffee shops make great coffee, I wanted to offer something more.
“From the very beginning, my goal was to create an experience the moment a customer walks through the door.
“Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and even some wanting to give back made it clear to me that this was about more than just coffee.”
