New trains will start running through Watford Junction when a timetable rework comes in for week.
The national timetable change will include a host of tweaks for the town's rail services, coinciding with the introduction of a fleet of electric trains by London Northwestern Railway (LNR) from Sunday (May 17).
This will provide 42,000 extra seats on services to and from London Euston every week, the company has said.
Class 730/2 trains will be brought in to run on the routes between London and Milton Keynes. They are longer than the trains they replace and represent a 20 per cent increase in capacity.
LNR customer experience director Jonny Wiseman said: “The extra seats we are introducing to the West Coast Main Line are set to significantly improve the customer experience for our passengers, whether they use the route for their daily commute or travelling for leisure.
“Completing the rollout of our new electric fleet is a milestone moment for us, representing our £1billion investment coming to fruition and truly making a difference for the millions of customers who travel with us to and from Euston each year.
“We’re celebrating by offering thousands of half-price tickets to our passengers, so they can try out our enhanced services for less this June.”
Other timetable changes will bring a new direct service between London Euston and Walsall on weekdays, which should reduce crowding on services calling at Watford.

Smaller tweaks are also included, which mean customers should make sure to check ahead as the train they normally get may depart slightly earlier or later.

Abbey Line journeys between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey will also see minor changes.
Avanti West Coast is similarly introducing a new timetable from May 17, allowing more of its trains to run on the West Coast Main Line than ever before. It has also warned customers to check ahead due to “a few small changes to some departure times and station stops”.
The new timetables will remain in place until December 12.
