New owners at a chic bar have unveiled ambitious plans including new food, drink and private party options.
Vicky Parekh and his family took over at No.58 Watling Street, in the centre of Radlett, on Monday (June 16) and have already begun implementing their vision for the venue.
A smooth transition from the previous owners, with the bar avoiding any sort of closure, has allowed them to hit the ground running, but more is on the way.
Vicky, 48, told the Watford Observer: “Before I took over the pub, I went there for three or four days and sat down with local people - the regulars who have long been coming to the pub - and went to one of the private parties held there.
“It was just to get the knowledge of what the local people like, how they are, and gel with them. It was quite a good experience.
“It's a very close community, a small town away from the hustle and bustle of Watford, but really right on the high street.”
Based on his research, Vicky, whose background is in logistics and economic management at a drinks company, set out with the aim of making sure “every demographic is catered for”.
Once everything is up and running, the small kitchen will start producing finger foods such as chips, chicken wings, and samosas, and more drinks will be on offer.
There will be juices and J20s to make it more family friendly, its own branded lager at £4.50 a pint, premium beers, and a new selection of wines, cocktails, and mocktails.
This should hopefully allow it to cater to young and old alike. Discounts for nearby businesses who might plan visits for after work drinks are also planned. Children will be allowed in the bar until 9pm.
So far, regulars and newcomers alike have apparently praised the “fresh vibe and atmosphere” and wished the new management good luck with their new ideas for the venue.

“We want to be in the community and known as a community bar,” Vicky said. “We want families to come and enjoy their evenings and spend time here.
“We are in the process of creating the special cocktail menu which should hopefully attract the younger generation and our selection of wines should cater to every demographic.”
Other plans include more private party bookings, bringing in local musicians to perform, DJ nights, and various deals and promotions.
