Residents have voiced fury over "huge" lorries repeatedly causing chaos as they get stuck on a narrow residential road.
Those living in Watford's Acme Road, which lies between Leavesden Road and Shakespeare Industrial Estate, say five trucks passed through their road before 4pm the other day.
Yet the road, like the alternative routes through Shakespeare Street and Milton Street, is not wide enough for two cars to pass when vehicles are parked on either side - meaning drivers often realise too late they cannot fit and get stuck.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said: “Everyone is so angry and down in the dumps and fed up with it because – I mean five in one day – they’re increasing more and more.”
Lorries apparently come at all hours, including at night, and blow horns to try to get vehicles to move. Queues of cars waiting for them have been forced to reverse out onto the busy Leavesden Road.
“Our road has got potholes in, so many cracks, we're going to have sinkholes soon,” she added.
“Every time we hear a truck now you can see all the neighbours coming out of their doors filming.”
Residents have been further angered by a proposal for double yellow lines at the entrance to the industrial estate.
This, they argue, would not address the issue since lorries still get stuck when no parked cars are around as they are “just too big for these roads”.
They say yellow lines would just penalise residents, who already struggle to park because industrial estate staff use up many of the spaces, and call for a weight restriction to be introduced instead.

Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “I know that local councillors have been discussing this issue with residents.
"They are actively working to find a resolution.
"I am also personally writing to the businesses on the Shakespeare industrial estate to put forward residents’ concerns.
“It is important that we find a balance for both the community and the thriving businesses based on the 100-year-old industrial estate.
“Parking is often a contentious issue in Watford. We are currently consulting on introducing some yellow lines, after these were suggested.
"As ever, we will listen carefully to feedback before deciding if any changes will be made.”
