“GOSH saved our little boy’s life”, a mum has said, ahead of running in support of the charity one day before her son's surgery.
Rory from Kings Langley was referred to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) when he was just five hours old and has remained under its specialist care throughout the first 11 months of his life.
He required a stoma and multiple surgeries, but mum Molly Gurr says the support has extended far beyond medical care as the hospital helped the family navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
The 29-year-old said: “GOSH saved our little boy's life. They gave him his stoma, and throughout every stage of his ongoing surgeries they have never left our side. We couldn't ask for a more caring, supportive surgical team.
"They have supported not only Rory, but also me and my partner every step of the way."
On Sunday (July 12), Molly will run the Saucony London 10k to raise money for GOSH and give back for the support she received.
"I'm taking part in this run because Great Ormond Street Hospital has been a huge part of mine, my partner's and our little boy Rory's lives since he was just five hours old,” she said.
“The day after the Saucony London 10k we'll be back at GOSH for the next stage of Rory's surgery journey.

Molly added: “Doing this run is just a way of giving back to all the incredible people who work there and for everything they have done and continue to do for our son.”

Each mile will be a thank you to the hospital that helped save her son’s life and continues to support the family through every step of his treatment, she says.
A Running4Rory JustGiving page has blown past a £500 goal already, gathering £1,620 from 35 supporters.
The Saucony London 10k is a road running event which takes participants on a closed-road route through the centre of the capital, passing landmarks including Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, and the London Eye.
