The GP Patient Survey asked patients in and around Watford how often their surgery picks up the phone straight away.

Those calling Abbotswood Medical Centre in College Road, Abbots Langley, are the most likely to get through without being left in a queue, with a 28 per cent chance according to data published on Thursday (July 9).

No one responded that they were unable to get any answer at all, with everyone else saying they were held in a queue and waited until someone answered.

At the other end, no one was able to get through right away when calling Manor View Practice, which has Watford, Bushey, South Oxhey, and Borehamwood branches.

However, everyone was able to speak to someone eventually.

At Gade Surgery, which merged with Chorleywood Health Centre last year, six per cent of patients said their last call was answered “straight away” but 10 per cent said they received no answer “at all”.

This was the highest figure for any of the GPs in the area, with the vast majority at most practices receiving an answer after some time in a queue or as a call back.

The figures come from the GP Patient Survey, a national study which is carried out by Ipsos every year on behalf of NHS England.
