Cadent Gas will shut a route into Watford for more than a week with further works to last almost three.

Woodside Road will be closed between Warren Court and High Elms Lane from Monday, August 24 and September 2 for “essential” gas main maintenance.

Once these main works are complete, temporary traffic signals will be used to allow for the road to reopen while a new connection is installed under the pavement.

Motorists are advised to avoid Woodside Road while the project is underway.

It has been timed to coincide with school holidays, due to the proximity to Parmiter’s School, Future Academies, and Saint Michael’s Catholic High School in High Elms Lane and Horseshoe Lane.

A walkway will be provided to maintain pedestrian access.

Separate works currently ongoing in nearby Chequers Lane are set to finish tonight and so will not coincide with the Woodside Road closure.
