Motorists around Radlett, Elstree, and Borehamwood have had poor luck with roadworks as congestion has recently plagued the area.
Traffic website One Network shows official diversion routes criss-crossing the western end of Hertsmere, with several roads shut and others hosting temporary lights. Meanwhile, residents report journeys taking up to 40 minutes longer than normal.
All of this comes as Bhaktivedanta Manor, accessed from from Hillfield Lane, Bushey, will host the annual Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival from today (September 4) to Sunday.
The annual event can see as many as many as 50,000 people attend, many of whom would normally arrive via some of the routes below.

Radlett Lane
Radlett Lane, between Shenley and Radlett, is only expected to be shut until the end of today after repairs to a burst water main began on Tuesday night (September 1). Affinity Water is carrying out the works.
Due to the other closures in the area, the listed diversion is estimated at 25 minutes long, taking vehicles through Shenley Road, Borehamwood.
Harper Lane
The simplest diversion for Radlett Lane journeys would have been Harper Lane. However, this is closed at the Radlett end for Hertfordshire County Council vegetation clearance.
The restriction is listed from yesterday to Tuesday (September 8).
Green Street
Green Street, between Borehamwood and Shenley, was closed due to a burst water main yesterday morning.
Affinity Water’s permit lasts until September 7, although this is likely only an estimate as the burst was only reported so recently.
Theobald Street
Cadent Gas is currently working in Theobald Street, Borehamwood, on a long-term project to replace old gas pipes with new plastic ones. This is being done under temporary traffic lights rather than a full road closure.
The main alternative route between Borehamwood and Radlett, Watling Street, is also seeing its own works.

Watling Street
Works as part of a development, to link an access road to the main network, are scheduled until 7pm today, having begun on August 19, in Watling Street.
This requires temporary two-way traffic lights.
Barnet Lane
The main junction in the centre of Elstree is currently operating under multi-way signals, which residents say has caused “pandemonium”.
Affinity Water works are currently set to last until the end of Sunday (September 6) but had previously been pushed back and there has apparently been little visible progress since then.
Hertfordshire County Council has said it is liaising with Affinity Water over the works and is "aware of the disruption this is causing in the area".
