A driver became trapped after their car hit a telegraph pole and flipped onto its roof.
The single-vehicle crash was reported in London Road, Rickmansworth, at around 1.35pm on Sunday (September 6).
A silver hatchback had hit the pole near the White Hill junction and Ye Olde Greene Manne pub, leaving wiring exposed.
Herts Police and the East of England Ambulance Service were called out and officers quickly confirmed that the damage to wires meant the road would be shut “for some time”.
“Please avoid the area where possible and seek an alternative route,” the force added.

Road closures were lifted at 7.36pm.
Footage taken at the scene, which looks to have been recorded before emergency services arrived, showed members of the public stood around the vehicle while it was on its roof.
It appears that by that point no one remained trapped inside.
Update: An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called just before 1.30pm on Sunday September 6 to a road traffic collision on the junction of London Road and Batchworth Heath in Rickmansworth.
"An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene. An adult man was transported to Watford General Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.”
