Search the Public Notice PortalWarner Bros. has submitted plans for a new building on its Watford site to cope with continually rising demand.
The structure will replace an approved set lighting support facility, which has not yet been implemented at its Leavesden site, if updated plans are approved by Watford Borough Council.
It aims to be a more flexible space with a workshop on the ground floor and additional production, storage, and warehousing activities as well as offices, fitting rooms, props, costume departments, and staff welfare facilities.
The application said: “Since the studios opened in 2012 demand for production space has increased dramatically and continues to rise with the advent of direct-to-consumer streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney +, who have been joined by traditional Hollywood studios in making their content directly available to customers.”

It added: “The amended design and extended use proposed for Building 123 is to support the evolving operational requirements of the studios, which require greater flexibility to support production activities.”
The building will be designed as two units in an L shape, between the Leavesden Green and Aerodrome Way roundabouts, with aluminium plating on the outside.
October 28 has been set as the internal target date for a decision, with September 28 as the deadline for consultation comments from the public.
