Olly Murs has given a Hertfordshire sweet shop a radio shout out after “going viral” for his visit.
The Heart Skips a Beat singer apparently made staff members' year when he popped in to Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Potters Street, Bishop’s Stortford, last Thursday (September 3).
A picture of Murs in store posted to the business’ social media has since gathered 1,900 likes and landed it a mention on the Heart radio Saturday Breakfast show he hosts with Mark Wright.
At the top of the show, Mark joked he was amazed his co-host had managed to go “viral for going to a sweet shop”.
Olly laughed that it was proof he is “still famous guys”, adding that he can’t believe a simple visit to a Hertfordshire town could cause such a splash.
Mark continued: “Basically, Olly went to a sweet shop in Bishop's Stortford and the owner posted a picture on Instagram and it has gone everywhere.
“I’ve been sent a picture from someone I know, a friend who lives in Bishop's Stortford, saying 'Olly has been in our local sweet shop' and I’m thinking 'f*** off I thought you were going to tell me some big news or something bad has happened'.”

Despite initially struggling to remember Simms' name, once reminded he gave it a strong recommendation.
Having bought sour skulls and browsed the pick and mix for his wife while on face time with her, he said the store is “unbelievable” and “has everything”.
The 42-year-old added: “I just love it - Mr Simms - unbelievable sweet shop! If you see one anywhere, make sure you go in.
"They have the best sweets and, you know what, I just can’t believe it I’m still famous after all these years. I can’t believe it, I’m going viral in Stortford.”
Afterwards, the shop said: “Big thanks to Olly Murs and Mark Wright for giving us a shout out on Heart Radio. Much appreciated guys. Sending down a little gift for you and the team to enjoy. Hope to see you back in our shop soon.”
