A cyclist was reportedly bitten by a dog then assaulted by a man while riding along a towpath.

The victim had been riding alongside the canal by Lavrock Lane, Croxley Green, at around 11am on Thursday, September 10.

He was bitten on the calf by the small dog near Common Moor Lock before a row with a man on a boat ensued. The cyclist was reportedly assaulted during this.

PC Christian Gottman, who is investigating, said: “Thankfully the cyclist was not seriously injured during the incident, but it was a very stressful ordeal for him.

“Since the incident was reported, we’ve visited the area several times to try and trace a suspect, who reportedly speaks with an English accent, but have so far had no luck.

“We are therefore appealing to the public for any information which may assist us.

“If you saw what happened or believe you may be able to help us identify a suspect, please get in touch. Thank you.”
