Anthony Joshua gave a "bizarre" speech referencing his troubled Watford upbringing after losing his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The boxer grew up in the Meriden estate in Watford and attended Kings Langley Secondary School.

Joshua was outworked to drop a split decision at Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Arena, with scores of 113-115, 115-113, 116-112.

He then confronted the champion, seemingly asking him how he won, before demanding the microphone to address the crowd.

Joshua said: “If you knew my story you would understand the passion, I’m not no amateur boxer from five years old that was an elite prospect from my youth bro.

“I was going to jail, I saw some youths in Reading Jail, I got bailed and started training my arse off, because if I got sentenced then I would not have been able to fight."
