The moment a snooker player potted the first century break in a local club’s history has been caught on video.

Jamie Rous, 51, of the Oxhey Hall team, achieved the milestone in a match against Abbots Langley player Danny Brocklehurst at the Oxhey Hall Community Centre in Broadfields Lane on Thursday, February 22.

A century break requires the player to pot at least 25 balls consecutively in one visit to the table, which the former professional player achieved in the Watford & District Billiards And Snooker League match.

Named the "ultimate milestone for any snooker player" by world champion Ronnie O'sullivan, it is a historic first for the community centre which was founded 84 years ago in 1940.

Rous, who is understood to practices with professional players Martin O'Donnell,  Jimmy White and Alfie Burden, has been with the club for two seasons.

Bob Reid, a volunteer at the centre, said: “Of course it’s an honour for the club for this to happen in a league game.

“We all cheered and people were taking videos and photographs as he put in the last couple of balls.”

Rous has been contacted for comment. Updates to follow.
