Simtec Golf Kings Langley inside look ahead of full opening

Father and son team Ollie and Neil Martin opened Simtec Golf in Station Road, Kings Langley, last week, offering three "state of the art" TrackMan simulators for enthusiasts and new golfers alike to practice their swing.

Although all three lanes were full of customers trying the location out early when Ollie spoke to the Watford Observer this morning (December 30), the full opening is set for January 6.

(Image: Ollie Martin) “Everyone’s enjoying it, it’s been a very, very positive response. We’re looking to get memberships soon once we’ve had some more feedback,” Ollie said.

“Everybody’s had a great time.”

Several customers have apparently highlighted how much they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere compared to similar venues in London.

The location does offer a beer fridge but no bar setup or "pub vibe", which offers a quieter space for families and serious golfers or beginners looking to practise their swing.

Each simulator is able to accommodate up to four golfers.

Neil Martin is opening the range alongside his son Ollie. (Image: Supplied by Ollie Martin) Ollie added that he feels “really good” about how the launch has gone, with the only problem being a slight issue with the booking system. 

The 30-year-old asked anyone who initially sees that there are no spaces available online to call or click through onto the other lanes - as there may be spaces that do not initially display.

This will apparently be sorted out soon to make it more obvious there are spaces available in other lanes when one is full.

A free evening will be on offer, with no bookings required, from 4pm to 8pm on January 23. Representatives from Trackman will be in attendance to show people how to get the most out of the machines.

(Image: Ollie Martin) Neil, 68, has been involved in golf for 50 years, doing everything from lessons to distribution, and currently owns a golf shop in Hemel Hempstead's Old Town.

In February this shop will move to Kings Langley, taking up the space above the new indoor range.
