An eight-year-old girl is asking for charity donations instead of presents for her birthday - as she has done since the age of two.

Lucy Nutton, from Watford, has been making the request since she was a tot and raising funds for Lucy Air Ambulance for Children (Lucy AAC).

And for her ninth birthday on March 13, Lucy is once again asking for friends and family to swap birthday presents for donations to the charity.

To date, Lucy has raised more than £2,200 and hopes to raise more than she did last year - £481.

The charity’s chief executive officer Charlotte Young said: “We are so very grateful for Lucy’s immense generosity and kind compassion for our charity.

“She is a wonderful example of a young philanthropist and will always be a treasured part of our Lucy Family.”

But you don’t have to be invited to Lucy’s birthday party to help.

It is the last year Lucy will be having a big birthday party and will be looking for new ways to fundraise for next year.

Lucy AAC was founded in 2010 and flies children to hospital by aeroplane fitted with state of the art equipment.
