A new restaurant will be heading to The Colombia Press bar after it has been on sale for months.

According to Wetherspoon, who owns the site’s lease, SoBe will be moving into the premises in The Parade, Watford, after the deal complete on October 4.

However, SOBE Restaurant Management Group Limited has since shown the Watford Observer documents stating it will be moving in the premises and opening a Mexican restaurant come nightclub.

SoBe burger bar has confirmed to the Watford Observer that its chain will not be moving into the premises and has no affiliation with SOBE Restaurant Management Group Limited.

Wetherspoon has been contacted for clarification.

On August 2, Wetherspoon confirmed the pub is now “under offer” and said it is “hoping to exchange on the property shortly”.

The Colombia Press closed on February 6 after initially being put on the market in September 2022.

It was closed as part of a “commercial decision”, a Wetherspoon spokesperson said in February.

Its name was stripped off the site and metal sheets were placed over the window front.
