Four new stores have been announced to open in atria Watford’s former John Lewis unit.

B&M, Choice Discount, Peacocks, and Bonmarché are the latest additions to be confirmed for the town’s shopping centre.

The 21,000-square-foot B&M store is set to open its own unit sometime this year while Choice Discounts’ 5,000-square-foot store and a 10,000-square-foot combined Peacocks and Bonmarché unit are expected to open “in the second half of the year”.

Steve Gray, from atria Watford managers Global Mutual, said: “We are pleased to kick start 2024 by welcoming a host of new names to atria Watford, including our first ever B&M store.

"These new additions will increase choice for our visitors – bringing quality at affordable prices.

“It’s great to see new brands coming to the centre and the revitalisation of the former John Lewis unit is indicative of increased confidence across the sector.

“We look forward to the store openings later this year.”

The businesses will join Dunelm’s 33,000-square-foot unit and Poundland’s 14,5000-square-foot unit which are already open in the former John Lewis location.

Atria Watford has confirmed that B&M will be opening on the lower mall level. The existing store on the High Street will not be closing.

A spokesperson for B&M Retail said: “We’re incredibly excited about our new store opening coming to atria Watford and we’re feeling extremely positive about being able to create more jobs for local people.

“We hope customers are going to be delighted with the news that B&M is coming to this prime location and we’re excited to start welcoming them through the doors when we open later in the year.”

Variety retailer B&M will be offering its range of discount food, drink, and pet food as well as health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, and gifts.

Choice Discounts sells branded and designer menswear, womenswear, kidswear and accessories at discounted prices. Peacocks and Bonmarché also sell value clothing and accessories, with Peacocks stocking men’s and women’s clothing and Bonmarché targeting female customers.

The announcement comes just a day after footwear brand Greyder opened its atria Watford store (February 20).
