Watford Foodbank has issued an “urgent plea” as it is “really low on donations.”
In a post on Facebook the Trussell Trust foodbank said it is “really low” on a number of items, especially tinned meat, tinned fruit, rice pudding and custard, tinned soup, and tinned fish.
Other items on the ‘shopping list’ are: long life milk, long life fruit juice, jars of spreads, instant mashed potato, tinned tomatoes, bags of sugar, packets of jelly, tinned veg, jars of pasta sauce, little chocolate bars and sweet treats.
More than 90% of the food distributed by the Watford branch is donated by the public at supermarkets.

People in need can be referred and given vouchers to receive three days of food. A freephone line is available with Watford Citizens Advice to receive these vouchers.
Donations can be made at food collection points in Asda, Tesco Extra and both Sainsbury’s stores in Watford.
Items can also be dropped off at Watford Foodbank’s warehouse in Imperial Way between 10am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.
