Police had to intervene after locals were disturbed by a car meet that is “turning Watford into a racetrack” at night.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were called by several people reporting antisocial behaviour in a car park at around 11pm on Saturday night (February 25).

Police confirmed the reports were related to a “car meet” and when officers arrived they moved the vehicles on.

A number of people on social media said they could hear “extreme noise” from cars racing during the night, adding that it was not the first time the drivers had disturbed them.

People claimed they hear noise from around the DFS car park in the Colne Valley Retail Park quite often on Friday or Saturday nights.

Others leaving comments added that it sounds like the cars do donuts and race on nearby roads, with the sound of exhausts popping during the night described as “like gun shots”.

"It sounds like Watford has become a racetrack," said one person who was kept up.
