Roadworks which have made children late for school have repeatedly caused frustration for motorists.

Cadent has put in place two-way traffic lights in Scots Hill/Park Road, causing delays on the route between Rickmansworth and Croxley Green.

The work, to carry out utility repair, has led to long queues from the entrance to Rickmansworth Sports Club to as far as the Royal Masonic School on some days since starting on February 24.

On March 3, suspected sewage began pouring out of a hole at the works, worsening delays.

Despite Thames Water attending that issue, the Cadent repairs are still ongoing, and Hertfordshire County Council again issued a warning to “avoid the queue” in Park Road this morning (March 9).

Motorists have described the traffic as "frustrating" and "dreadful" and reported school runs or commutes taking as much as half an hour longer than usual while the lights are in place.

At 12.25pm today, essential maintenance by Affinity Water was added to the One Network map of potential delays — at the same location.

These works will involve “some carriageway incursion” but are apparently unlikely to cause delays.

According to One Network, both the Cadent and Affinity roadworks are now expected to be completed by March 13.
