A pair of Chinook helicopters were spotted over Bovingdon, possibly carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on his surprise UK visit.

In the latest leg of the his tour of western allies, he met Rishi Sunak at Chequers and a Bovingdon woman believes she snapped the leader’s transport overhead after he left the Buckinghamshire country house.

Hazel Richardson snapped the picture shortly before 12pm today (May 15) after Mr Zelensky left the two-hour meeting at around 11.50am, which would line up if they were taking him to Luton airport.

Two RAF Chinook helicopters had arrived for the meeting at around 9.15am, with heavy security present.

It followed meetings in Paris, Berlin, and Rome and came three months after the Ukrainian leader’s first trip to London since the start of Russia’s invasion.

It was announced that the UK will provide Ukraine with air defence missiles and attack drones and Mr Zelensky said the two leaders had also discussed western fighter jets.

He added that he anticipated “very important decisions” to be made soon.
