A vet from Rickmansworth who admitted to sexual assault is set to face more than a year in jail.

Jamie Rushton appeared in Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday (May 30) where he was sentenced to 18 months in prison and placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years. 

He will also have to follow the requirements of a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

The married 45-year-old was ordered to pay costs and a victim services surcharge.

Rushton, of Rickmansworth, had admitted to the sexual assault, in June 2017, at a previous hearing.

According to what is believed to be his LinkedIn profile, he worked at Village Vet Hampstead, in London.

A 17-year-old from Watford was sentenced by Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on May 19 after he admitted to taking a Lexus in Enfield on January 27 without the consent of the owner.

A charge of possessing a knife in a public place on the same day had been dismissed at an earlier hearing.

He was subject to a conditional discharge and a youth rehabilitation order at the time, having previously been found guilty of other offences including knife possession and handling stolen goods.

A youth rehabilitation order was made, requiring him to comply with electronic monitoring for three months and attend appointments for six months.

His parents must pay a £26 victim services surcharge.
