Plans for a new 20-metre 5G mast near another train station have been submitted.

Bushey Mill Lane, near Watford North train station has been chosen by Cornerstone, which has a commercial relationship with Vodafone, as the site of a potential new 5G pole.

According to the application, submitted to Watford Borough Council yesterday (September 20), it would sit on grass at the corner with Greycaine Road, at the first turning nearer Watford North.

Supplementary information submitted with the proposal says: “Vodafone Ltd currently provide a limited service to the surrounding area from an existing installation at Watford North railway station, to the west of the application site.

“This ‘pitchfork’ design provides 2G coverage to the surrounding area, and the structure can not be upgraded to provide 3G, 4G and 5G services for customers.”

It follows a similar plan for a 5G pole between the tracks at Bushey train station submitted on August 30. That pole would be 25-metres tall if approved by the borough council.
