A points failure has caused rail cancellations and disruption for trains out of Watford Junction.

Multiple trains are set to be cancelled between Watford Junction and London Euston/Milton Keynes Central today due to a points failure on the line.

London Northwestern Railway confirmed that there was an issue at around 11.30am.

It said: “Some lines have been blocked. Services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed up to 20 minutes.”

Three trains departing Watford Junction in the next hour have been confirmed as being cancelled, these are the 12.32pm train to London Euston, the 1pm to Milton Keynes Central, and the 1.02pm to London Euston.

Update: Lines have now reopened but disruption is still expected until around 2pm "as service recovers", according to National Rail.

Several other services are delayed.

Travellers have been advised to check before they travel. The railway company also encouraged those who are delayed by more than 15 minutes to claim compensation.

The 12.15pm to London Euston, 12.30pm to Milton Keynes Central, and 12.33pm to London Euston are currently running late.
