Grounds teams have warned that flooding is continuing to significantly affect a popular walking spot.

Rickmansworth Aquadrome became waterlogged after heavy rainfall over the weekend caused the River Colne to burst its banks in Watford and Rickmansworth.

Parts of the aquadrome that had become completely flooded were closed off and, although weather conditions have improved, Three Rivers District Council shared a message confirming that some areas are still blocked this morning (March 6).

It said: “Visitors to the aquadrome in Rickmansworth are reminded that flooding continues to affect significant areas of the site."

The woodland walk route and some other pathways have been closed by the grounds team.

“Officers will continue to monitor the situation and areas will be reopened to the public when it is safe to do so,” the council added.

“Visitors are reminded to stay out of the closed-off areas and to please observe and respect any safety signage or instructions.

“Whilst we recognise that this may be an inconvenience, it is a necessary measure to ensure visitors are safe.”

Herts Police warned motorists to avoid certain areas, including Water Lane, Watford, as they became flooded during the deluge on Saturday (March 2).

Multiple vehicles were reported stranded in the area.
