With Hertfordshire’s expanding importance to the film industry, it may be no surprise that some massive celebrities have been seen out and about this year.
While it might be expected that actors would appear at the film studios in Leavesden and Borehamwood, 2024 has also seen some more unexpected appearances at parks, high streets, restaurants, and more.

Ed Sheeran, London Colney

"It was super exciting popping into Sainsbury’s and surprising some shoppers," Sheeran said, after signing shoppers’ meals with his Tingly Ted’s sauce on the day.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, Rickmansworth

Alongside his wife and That 70’s Show co-star Mila Kunis and their children, he visited several locations in the town including grabbing a drink of water at Starbucks, a meal at Miller & Carter, and even passing through the town’s TikTok-viral alleyway.
Ricky Gervais, Bushey
Ricky Gervais at Costco in Bushey. (Image: Ricky Gervais/X) Comedian Ricky Gervais revealed he had stopped by Costco Watford when he shared a picture taken there on X (formerly Twitter) on February 5.
He said he was helping to unload 600 bottles of Dutch Barn Vodka at the location as it was announced that the product was launching on the wholesaler’s shelves.
Gervais is co-owner of Ellers Farm, which makes Dutch Barn Vodka.
Richard Gere, Bushey

(Image: St James Bushey) Richard Gere said he “really enjoyed” his meat-free tasting menu in St James Restaurant on July 30 after a chauffer dropped him off at the Bushey High Street restaurant - which closed down when its owner retired in September.
The Pretty Woman star was described as a “real gentleman” and took pictures with staff after his meal.
Ross Kemp, Rickmansworth

Ahead of Thank You Day, held to celebrate those who freely give to their communities on July 7, Kemp was in Mill End, Rickmansworth, on June 25, to help out with organising lunches.
KSI and the Sidemen, Watford
KSI in Watford. (Image: Watford Town Centre BID) The town’s own internet sensation, KSI, was surrounded by fans when he appeared along with his famous friends, The Sidemen, to record a video in Watford High Street on October 9.
The YouTuber, real name Olajide Olatunji, prepared and served burgers from a food truck to a throng of exited schoolkids.
Rose Ayling-Ellis, St Albans
Rose Ayling-Ellis spotted in St Albans. (Image: Huw Richards) EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis was spotted near Fade to Black Coffee shop in The Quadrant, St Albans, on September 20.
The 29-year-old was in the area for ITV drama Code of Silence filming, with further recording taking place at The Garibaldi in the city centre on October 7.
Anthony Joshua, Watford

This year, the boxer was part of a community services fun day in Meriden Park on June 9 and visited a gym in town during October.
Danny Dyer, Hatfield

However, he was seen in a more public location and took photos with fans when filming took place at Birchwood Café and Skippers, in Hatfield, for Mr Bigstuff on November 7.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, Watford

The Conjuring stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga were spotted as Cassiobury Park appeared to have been transformed into a cemetery set at the end of September.
What was being filmed has not been confirmed.
However, speculation that it is for The Conjuring: Last Rites – due to be released next year – seems like a solid bet.
