A school has marked Remembrance Day and said it is “so proud” after the children led the assembly themselves.

Woodhall Primary School in South Oxhey held its annual Woodhall Remembers event attended by parents, police, and county councillor Chris Alley.

The assembly was prepared and presented by the school’s year six pupils who explained the importance of Remembrance and led the attendees in coming together to reflect on those affected by war.

Head teacher Michelle Lake said: “We were so proud of all of our children as the whole school community came together to think about everyone across the world whose lives have been torn apart by war.

“Earlier this year, we collected donations for the people in Ukraine, which made today even more meaningful for our children.

"We were so proud of our wonderful Woodhall family.”

The kids talked about how the day is marked across the world, shared stories of soldiers in different regiments during the world wars and read poems.

Wreaths were laid at a model cenotaph, made by ex-Royal Navy caretaker Mr Fleming, while the Last Post played.

A two-minute silence was observed by attendees.
